Bloat or GDVT means distention caused by gas accumulation. In this
situation stomach is involved.
The gastric dilatation-volvulus-torsion syndrome (GDVT) is a medical
and surgical emergency with high mortality in the dog. Gastric dilatation
refers to distention of the stomach, caused most often by swallowed air.
Rarely is the dilatation corrected by the passage of stomach tube. The
patient may be temporarily relieved but often may suffer from coincidental
torsion or twisting by rotation either clockwise or anti clockwise.

1. Distended abdomen with tympany
2. Non- productive retching ( as like in vomiting )
3. Salivation ( sialorrhea )
4. Breathing difficulty ( respiratory distress)
5. Occurs suddenly mostly ( acute onset )
